Kate Thiem, music director

Kate Thiem is a 2007 graduate of Mercyhurst University with a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance.  She received her Master’s of Music in Classical Voice from New York University in 2009.

Kate taught middle school choral music in General McLane and Millcreek School Districts until 2021 when she made the switch to digital marketing.  She now works as a social media strategist with Revox Media and also maintains her own freelance company, Hive Mind Management. 

Kate serves as an adjunct at Gannon University as the mixed chorus director, musical vocal director, and also teaches in the theatre department.

Kate has performed as a guest vocalist with the Erie Philharmonic, Westmoreland Philharmonic, Butler Symphony Orchestra, and the Erie Chamber Orchestra.  

Kate has performed at the Riverside Inn, in the comedy troupe In All Seriousness, and with the Erie Opera Theatre.  She appears annually in the Medieval Feast, hosted at Peak-n-Peek Resort.  Kate has been seen on the Erie Playhouse and Dramashop stages in many productions over the past twenty years, most notably Beauty and the Beast, Spamalot, Lizzie, Les Miserables, and Beautiful: The Carole King Musical.  

In her spare time, Kate enjoys traveling, running, and reading. She co-hosts the WQLN musical theatre radio show Ghost Light with her husband Patrick, and enjoys spending time with their two dogs, Bailey and Obi-Wan Kenobi.
