In the early 1960’s many people were moving from the City of Erie to its western suburbs. In 1964, members of Trinity Episcopal Mission in Fairview joined with some members of the Cathedral of St. Paul to form St. Stephen’s, Manchester, in Fairview Township.

The church building was completed in 1966, built in the colonial style found in many churches in Virginia. The building was further expanded in 1969 and 1977. From the beginning, St. Stephen’s has had strong lay leadership and participation.

Throughout its history, St. Stephen’s has had a special concern for children and families. St. Stephen’s Nursery School is one of the finest in the region, and St. Stephen’s congregation happily welcomes families and children at Sunday morning worship. Our members also donate supplies to support local schools.

Our beautiful campus includes vegetable gardens that supply the local food pantry as well as a pollinator garden. Our playground is enjoyed by the children of our congregation and school as well as our neighbors. Our lovely outdoor worship area is used in the summer for popular outdoor services.
